About Sekai Gohan

Sekai Gohan (世界ごはん紀行, “a culinary journey around the world”) is a recipe magazine edited in Japan. We introduce home cooking, street food and festive dishes from every region of the world.

For each dish we check primary sources such as national tourism boards, public institutions, local recipe writers and food-safety agencies, then write the recipe so that it can be reproduced in an ordinary kitchen: cutting sizes, heat levels, visual cues and substitutes are spelled out.

Articles are first published in Japanese. The English versions are translated by our editorial team, keeping quantities, temperatures, times and safety notes exactly as in the original. Shopping notes that only apply to Japan are adapted or omitted.

Our editorial, citation, affiliate and privacy policies are currently available in Japanese only. For questions, please use the contact page.
